Art Program

Visual arts programming at the Institute strengthens our student's independence and provides the perfect opportunity for our kinesthetic and tactile learners to develop critical skills, including:

Led by our K-12 art teacher Soula Finelli, programming provided during our 10-month academic year aligns with the NYS Common Core Curriculum and currently includes:

 

Painting

Sculpture

Ceramics/Pottery 

Jewelry

Textiles and Fabrics

Crafts/Visual Arts-Crafts

 

Providing a larger context for how art relates to society and humanity, art history lessons incorporate aspects of anthropology, sociology, and history and dive into how art reflects activities in our daily lives. Past featured artists include Georgia O'Keefe, Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van GoghWassily Kandinsky, Frida Kahlo, Henri Matisse, Piet Mondrian, and Andy Warhol.
