Edward R. Finch Library

Cartoon Style Graphic. In the foreground, three dinosaurs sit on colorful rugs in a library, reading books. In the background, a poster of the NYISE school logo hangs on the wall, and a window shows a blue sky with small black birds flying by. Above the graphic are the words Reading List—Librarians Choice.

Our Edward R. Finch Library offers a wide selection of emerging reader, juvenile, and young adult fiction books in print, large print, and English Braille for students in the Schermerhorn K-12 program.

Each week, students take library classes where they learn how to search our entire collection quickly and easily through our integrated library management system. Throughout the year, we consistently add new books to our collection to meet the wide range of interests of our students, who also utilize the space for their studies during breaks and afterschool.

Readiness students take field trips to the library often to visit with our Librarian and explore books in our early readers collections to support their early literacy development.

“Libraries store the energy that fuels the imagination.

They open up windows to the world and inspire us to explore and achieve,

and contribute to improving our quality of life”.
