Team and Individual Sports

Our sports teams provide students with opportunities to engage in healthy competition, work with peers toward a shared goal, and meet other students who are blind or visually impaired.

One of seven schools that make up the Eastern Athletics Association for the Blind (EAAB), the Institute's teams compete in local and national competitions, allowing students to travel (some for the first time).

All students who maintain their academic standing can participate in our sports teams, and each sport is adapted to accommodate students with visual impairments or blindness.

Team tryouts are at the start of each sports season, and practices occur Monday - Thursday, 3:00 - 5:30 PM, with varying frequency based on the season.

EAAB schools alternate hosting tournaments and competitions, and teams are divided into boys, girls, or co-ed teams, ensuring that all can benefit from participating. Per EAAB requirements, students must be 13 years of age or in the seventh grade before September 1 to compete.
