11/28 The goal was met with 2704 donations.
11/21 Update: Thanks to St. Patrick’s Home and Rehabilitation Center in the Bronx for sharing their food drive donations with our cause! New Photos Here.
Dear Parents/Guardians and Staff,
November is Hunger Awareness month. Schermerhorn, Van Cleve and the Readiness Programs will be hosting a food drive to feed thousands of families in need. As a nonprofit school, we receive many donations for our students.
This year as in the past four years, we are giving back to the community by doing a selfless act of feeding starving families. The Bronx has the highest level of food insecurity in all of New York. Unfortunately, these families have young children that wake up wondering when they’ll receive their next meals let alone if they’ll survive to enjoy it.
That’s why we are participating in this event.
We will accept any nonperishable items as well as monetary donations to be used to purchase more food. Donation Boxes will be placed around the campus, and you can email me if there is anything you need to be picked up by the students.
We will be taking the food to POTS (Part of The Solution) in the Bronx. Where they feed 25,000 people a year !!
Our goal this year is to reach 2,700 by our deadline which is November 28. Last year our goal was 2,000 and we collected 2,100 !!
So please help and donate.
Thank you,
The Schermerhorn students and
