Bronx students with special needs celebrated their achievements Monday as part of White Cane Day.

White Cane Day has been nationally observed since 1964 and is meant to celebrate the achievements of the visually impaired and blind, and to highlight the importance of their white canes.

Dozens of students marched around the New York Institute for Special Education to celebrate.

Special thanks to Assemblywoman Nathalia Fernandez of District 80 for her support of 4201 Schools and for marching with the students to celebrate White Cane Day.

Assemblywoman Natalia Fernandez

Today I was happy to participate in the NYISE’s White Cane Parade to celebrate the achievements of people who are blind or visually impaired!
