We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Phillip G. Foote, a cherished member of The New York Institute for Special Education Board of Trustees for over 28 years. Phillip passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of profound commitment to education and service.
His life in Education is one of the reasons that he was so valued as a member of our Board. He always prioritized the students and their needs above all else.
As a long-serving trustee of NYISE, Phil’s wisdom, warmth, and steadfast support were integral to the Institute’s mission. His insights and advocacy helped strengthen our community and elevate our work in meaningful ways. We are forever grateful for his counsel, leadership, and generous spirit.
Though he will be deeply missed, Phil’s legacy will continue to inspire and guide us in our shared dedication to educational excellence and inclusion.
