The re-opening team evaluated each classroom to determine the ability to provide social distancing in the classrooms. The rooms have been rearranged to provide for the distancing and when the full 6 feet is not possible Polycarbonate dividers will be placed on each desk and between computer desks in common work spaces. The students will be in cohorts with teachers rotating into the classrooms. The pre-school and elementary programs are designed as self-contained classrooms. To offer social distancing and increase health and safety, the middle school and high school classes will remain in their homerooms and the teachers will rotate into the classrooms following a planned schedule.
NYISE has installed signage throughout the campus. For individuals with visual impairments/blindness the signs have been transcribed into Braille. Selected signs in Braille are located throughout the campus. Since these signs will be touched they will be cleaned on a regular basis.
