After learning about ancient Egypt, students had the chance in participating in the process of mummifying apples. Students peeled the apples, created pharaoh faces, and weighed on a triple beam balance scale. After this process was completed, students placed the pharaohs in a Ziplock bag, and covered with kosher salt. The drying process will be repeated in 7 days and students will check to see if their hypotheses were correct. The sparing process will be repeated, and after that an additional week, students will add oil and seasonings and prepare to wrap the “mummy” in muslin. Photographer: Jessica Hurley
