Group 8 made their very own beaver dams. First, we collected sticks, rocks, and sand. Then, the students planned out how they were going to construct their dams. Next, they poured water in to test if their dams stopped the water from flowing. After some trial and error, the students realized they needed to pack dirt and mulch into the wholes between the sticks in order to block the water and create a pond. They were real engineers, just like real beavers!

Photographer: Nancy Smith
