Buddies Incorporated had its start at The New York Institute for the Education of the Blind. It was the outgrowth of several years of observation and study of the union of blind children and dogs and of the values accruing to these children through the care and training of their canine pets. This experiment was conducted at The Ne v York Institute uncler the leadership and guidance of its Principal, Dr. M. B. Frampton who together with several Managers of the Institute founded and constituted the original board of directors of Buddies Inc. in April of 1947.
