Camp Wanaqua is the only free day camp in the New York metropolitan area for blind and visually impaired children. Each summer during the month of July, Camp Wanaqua serves kids ages seven to thirteen and provides kids with a chance to unplug, engage with each other, and have fun.

In these photos, the campers enjoy a baseball clinic by the Long Island Bombers Beep baseball team. Beep baseball is an adapted baseball sport which allows blind and visually impaired children and adults to enjoy playing baseball without need for sight. Beep baseball athletes utilize their entire body, often diving onto the ground to stop a beeping ball and running full speed toward the sound of a buzzing base to score a run. It is baseball, in a modified version.

Photographer: Christopher Busone
