Throughout the month of February, the children and staff of Readiness have been celebrating Black History Month. Each class focused on a famous African American inventor and recreated their inventions. There was also a traveling basket circulating from class to class with various fruits and vegetables indigenous to African American culture. <br><br>On February 26, 2009, two dancers, Samantha and Princess, provided the children of Readiness with African dance history and a dance presentation. They presented a traditional African Story, The Griotu2019s Gift, and engaged our students with African drumming and dance. <br><br>In the Readiness Program. each class was provided with materials to make an edible traffic light as a Black History month activity honoring the inventor, Garrett Morgan.
