At this years New York Association for the Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired (NYSAER) Conference, Dr. Bernadette Kappen and Mayra McCarthy received awards from the Association. <br>Mrs. McCarthy received the Nat Seaman Award that recognizes individuals who have contributed to or influenced practices and performance in furthering the cause of visually impaired persons. <br><br>Dr. Kappen received the George E. Keane Award in recognition of a lifetime of achievement and dedicated service to persons with visual impairments whose work has been of benefit to NY State and has influenced the national scene.<br><br>Photographer: Maria Zulli
