Groups 5,6, and 7 went on a trip to the Bronx Botanical Gardens to learn about pollination. First, we touched and smelled the different shaped flowers blooming in the gardens. Next, we dissected kidney beans and took off the seed coat and opened the seed to see and feel the baby plant inside.

We planted kidney bean plants. Next,u00A0 we felt a model of a flowering plant. We dissected flowers and found the parts of the flower with a real flower. Finally, we played a pollination game and matched the pollinators with the flowers they prefer. This was followed by a picnic lunch under a tent in the park. It was a day of learning and exploring despite the cool weather.

Photographer: Nancy Smith
