Our speciality which is a major part of out business is braille engraving for plaques, gifts or trophies. Having a totally blind daughter gave us the idea to include braille engraving as part of our business. Now last year when she received her goalball trophy both the sighted and visually impaired could read it. You can imagine the excitement of many of her friends that have been receiving awards and trophies for years but for the first time could actually read them.
The Braille engraving is done in acrylic and plastic, which are available in a variety of colors. For trophies and gifts clear material brailled is laid over a engraved metal plate. Multi colored acrylic is also a favorite which gives you one color for the background and another for the raised dots and surrounding area. All the braille is a grade 2 which is the same as used for legal ADA signage.
