ABSOLUTE MAGNITUDE SCIENCE FICTION MAGAZINE

NOW AVAILABLE IN ELECTRONIC FORMAT FOR READERS WITH DISABILITIES

Absolute Magnitude Magazine, specializing in gritty adventure science fiction, has opened the doors for readers with disabilities by offering an accessible electronic version of the magazine on computer disk. According to editor in chief Warren Lapine, "Our goal is to assure that everyone who wants to read the magazine has an equal chance." The magazine is currently available in two formats, a glossy print edition, as well as an electronic version, offering the full-text of the magazine each issue.

The electronic text version is compatible with MS DOS and Windows platforms; and includes full-text versions of each fact article and work of fiction found in the print magazine. Advertising and graphics are not currently included in the electronic version.

The price of the electronic magazine is identical to a standard print subscription. Individual issues are available for $4.95, and yearly subscriptions are available for $16.00.

The electronic edition of Absolute Magnitude includes a shareware text browser, a file reading utility specially designed for users of adaptive equipment. ReadIt is a speech- friendly text browser, celebrated among users with vision impairments who utilize speech output systems to read files and access personal computers.

Absolute Magnitude is constructing an extensive web page, which will be accessible to users with disabilities. the web page will include samples of stories and fact articles published in the magazine, as well as information and links to other popular science fiction sites across the Net.
