Welcome to the Readiness Program; part of The New York Institute for Special Education.

Since 2001, it has been a privilege and genuine joy for me to serve as Principal of this significant preschool program.  Along with our Assistant Principals, Mrs. Gerry Dugandzic and Mrs. Dolores Peters, we have a staff of highly qualified teachers, therapists, social workers, psychologists, administrative support staff, and maintenance crew, who bring it all together every day of the year.

We look forward to you joining our team, as we support and guide your children through their learning experiences.  The Readiness Program supports parents and families through in-service meetings and special conferences.

Our program offers a supportive environment designed to meet the individual needs of each child.  Each class is staffed with a teacher and two teacher assistants.  The class sizes vary: 8:1:2; 10:1:2; or 12:1:2 ratios to assure that each child receives optimal attention according to his/her needs.

Therapists work closely with the classroom team and offer both push-in and pull-out services, as appropriate.  Monthly team collaboration enables all team members to discuss issues and concerns as well as incorporate classroom themes and individualized programs across all areas of a student’s school day.  The professional team of teachers, therapists, and clinicians work closely with the family to develop programs that address not only cognitive development of the child, but also his/her social, emotional and physical needs, as mandated by the child’s Individual Education Plan (IEP).
