The New York Institute for Special Education provides quality programs for children who are blind or visually disabled, emotionally and learning disabled and pre-schoolers who are developmentally delayed. Thanks to NYC Wired and Governor Pataki's initiative called NY Wired for Education, a computer lab and library will have access to the Internet. NYC WIRED is made up of the people of New York City.Their mission is to ensure that schools and libraries are brought into the 21st century by being supplied with the latest tool of communication and education: the Internet. Via a grassroots effort, all of the schools and libraries within the borders of the City of New York will be wired, online, and with proper technical support. On September 21, 1996, The New York Institute will join the State in an "electronic barn-raising" by bringing communities together to wire the school and library for Internet access. |
