WNBA legend Kym Hampton presented awards to our student athletes at Sports Awards Night.

Each Spring, NYISE gathers its student athletes that have participated in our extensive sports program for a special night of awards and recognition. We field teams in bowling, swimming, track and field, wrestling, goalball and cheerleading and three basketball teams.

This year’s guest of honor, at the Sports Awards Night, was Kym Hampton, a WNBA legend and All-Star. She played the center position on the New York Liberty for three seasons. Following a 12-year professional career playing basketball internationally, Kym was drafted as the number four pick in the 1997 WNBA Elite draft, playing for New York Liberty from 1997–1999.  Retired since the 2000, Kym now pursues her passions of modeling, acting, singing and public speaking, helping to motivate the leaders of tomorrow.

She gave a terrific talk to the students and help present the awards and trophies. You can see from the photos how excited the students and their family and staff were to meet her.
